Who Paid the Rent?

When there are multiple tenants in a tenancy we are often required to identify who actually paid the rent.

This process may be easily managed in Gateway using the following instructions:
  1. Set the Tenant file up with multiple Contacts - one for each tenant
  2. When processing a rent receipt select the correct tenant from the drop-down list

  3. The tenant name will also appear in the 'Payee' section on the rent receipt

  4. In the Transactions tab, add the field 'Paid By' (go to Tools, Field Chooser to add this field)
  5. Move the 'Paid By' field by dragging and dropping so it displays in the position you require. This will show the name of the tenant who actually paid against the rent transaction

  6. For a hard copy of this information, print the History report

If you do not have multiple contact files set up, or if the rent has been received from a third party, the same result may be achieved by manually typing the details into the 'Received From' field
