New RTBA process for Bonds
A new system has been introduced by the Residential Tenancies Bond Authority whereby there is no longer a need for signatures from tenants in order to lodge a Bond. The bond lodgement is confirmed by email and then the RTBA debits the agency trust account.
I have been asked how to deal with this in Gateway in order to reconcile the payment which was previously managed with a Cheque.
My recommendation would be to process the payment as an F3 EFT but not upload the file. This would put an adjustment into the reconciliation until the debit appears on the bank statement, then it can be presented off.
By carrying out the F3 EFT there will also be a hard copy record of the transaction.
Ideally the RTBA bank account details need to be entered on the F3 EFT transaction. If this information is not available dummy BSB and Account numbers may be entered to create the file. As the file is not actually being uploaded this will have no negative affect on Gateway and will create the desired adjustment in the reconciliation.
NOTE: F3 EFT transactions are only available in Gateway Live.
