Multiple Email Addresses

Hi. Really simple thing to add to your next console upgrade.

Our office is finding that many landlords & tenants have multiple email addresses (i.e. work, personal) and with the usage of smart phones this trend is getting more common.

Can Console add an extra email field for tenants & landlords that would enable you to send to all email fields for the person you are trying to contact?

Re: Multiple Email Addresses

Hi Simon,

You can create multiple contacts for the one Owner/Tenant file. This allows you to enter extra telephone numbers, email addresses and other contact information.

Now to email to both these contacts you can simply right click on the Owner/Tenant and choose New Email. This will include both contacts in the email.

To add a second contact open the Owner/Tenant file. In here you will find a button called Contact. If you click this and choose Add new contact, this will give you a blank contact card in which you can add data to. You can use the up and down arrows to flick between contact files.

Kind Regards,

Kyle Plant

Re: Multiple Email Addresses

The problem then is that console will print a statement for the second contact which becomes a waste of paper, ink and time...

Re: Multiple Email Addresses

HI Simon

The second contact need not print a statement.

When in the second contact, select tools/statement options and turn off the option to print.

This should only print a statement for the first contact in the owner field.

Re: Multiple Email Addresses

I am the trust accountant and I have found this second option (new contact but no printed statements) messes up the system as we have done it to include L/L's accountant etc. It seemd to cause issues/confusion with property managers and other staff, i.e. they will press the combine contacts button when creating letters, and we then get the accountant or whomever included on the letter, when really all the L/L wanted was the statement emailed to them also. I may be carefull when emailing or printing letters from Console but the majority of our office would not notice they were not included or including to many contacts.

Re: Multiple Email Addresses

Hi All,

I found a work around which we use as Nicola C21 is right about the issues the second contact can cause.

We simply put ; after the first email and then input the next one (after a space) for example Johndoe@Anon.com; Janedoe@Anon.com this way both people will receive the email.

It uses the same method as Outlook and seems to work just fine however there is a word limit you need to be aware of for that field.

Re: Multiple Email Addresses

the ; ; method works fine.. console just needs to increase the number of letters allowed in the field. Also in the mobile number field so you can ; ; ; a few numbers if there are multiple mobile numbers for a tenant or tenants so they can all be sent arrears messages without setting up multiple tenant contacts..

Re: Multiple Email Addresses

I agree - we need the ability to be able to include multiple email addresses & mobile numbers.

The current email field only allows for 50 characters. At the very least the email field should be increased so we can add an additional email address separated by a semi-colon.

This is a very simple database fix and hopefully won't take a year to be implemented.

Ideally a second email field would be nice but I'd be satisfied with an interim solution that is simple enough to implement.

I tried to add this as a Feature Request but got this message :
